The Quran about signs 3
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
Signs in the history of mankind
History also abounds with all sorts of signs. Their precedents make it possible to comprehensively assess the situation and come to the right conclusion.
The Flood is known from the events with Noah.
And the people of Noah – when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them for mankind a sign. And We have prepared for the obscurantists a painful punishment! (25:37)
Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them did not believe! (26:120-121)
Numerous signs occurred with Abraham.
And the answer of Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) nation was not but that they said, “Kill him or burn him,” but God saved him from the fire. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe! (29:24)
And with his nephew Lot as well.
Indeed, we will bring down on the people of this city punishment from the sky because they have been libertines!”
And We have certainly left of it a sign as clear evidence for a people who use reason! (29:34-35)
The story with Joseph is instructive.
Certainly were there in Joseph and his brothers signs for those who ask! (12:7)
Then it appeared to them after they had seen the signs that they should surely imprison him for a time. (12:35)
It was mentioned about the nation of Madyan.
But We produced generations and prolonged was their duration. And you were not a resident among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our signs, but We were senders! (28:45)
The story of Moses is described in great detail.
So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people! (7:133)
So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless! (10:92)
And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, “Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days of God!” Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful! (14:5)
And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs, so ask the children of Israel when he came to them and pharaoh said to him, “Indeed I think, O Moses, that you are affected by magic!” (17:101)
And draw in your hand to your side; it will come out white without disease – another sign, that We may show you of Our greater signs! (20:22-23)
Then We drowned the others. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them did not believe! (26:66-67)
And put your hand into the opening of your garment, it will come out white without disease, among the nine signs to pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been apostate people!” (27:12)
Events with the children of Israel after Moses are also very instructive.
So, We said, “Strike the slain man with part of the cow.” Thus does God bring the dead to life, and He shows you His signs that you might reason. (2:73)
Ask the children of Israel how many a sign of evidence We have given them. And whoever exchanges the favor of God after it has come to him – then indeed, God is severe in penalty. (2:211)
And their prophet said to them, “Indeed, a sign of his kingship is that the chest will come to you in which is assurance from your Lord and a remnant of what the family of Moses and the family of Aaron had left, carried by the maintainers. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers!” (2:248)
The Quran narrates us about the nation of Samud and the messenger Salih.
And to the Thamud their brother Salih was sent.
He said, “O my people! Serve God! You have no deity other than Him! There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of God to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within God’s land and do not touch her with evil, lest there seize you a painful punishment. (7:73)
So those are their houses were desolated because they were obscurantists! Indeed in that is a sign for people who know! (27:52)
And also it narrates about the messenger Hood.
Do you construct all lofty signs, amusing yourselves? (26:128)
The story with the young men who slept in the cave for many years is also well known.
Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? (18:9)
And you would see the sun when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they were within an open space thereof. That was from the signs of God. He whom God guides is the guided, but he whom He leaves astray – never will you find for him neither patron, nor prudent! (18:17)
And the Quran tells us about the Saba Kingdom
There was for Saba’ in their dwelling place a sign: two gardens on the right and on the left. “Eat from the provisions of your Lord and be grateful to Him!”
Pleasant land. Lord is Forgiving!
But they turned away, so We sent upon them the flood of the dam, and We replaced their two gardens with gardens of bitter fruit, tamarisks and something of sparse lote trees. (34:15-16)
But saying, “Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys,” and they wronged themselves, so We made them narrations and dispersed them in total dispersion. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful! (34:19)
The biography of Jesus can be learned from the life of Zechariah.
He said, “My Lord! Make for me a sign!”
It was replied, “Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days except by gesture. And remember your Lord much and exalt in the evening and the morning!” (3:41)
Then we can learn about Maria.
He said, “Thus, your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter decreed!'”(19:21)
And the one who guarded her private parts! So We blew into her through Our Spirit. We made her and her son a sign for the nations! (21:91)
And as a result, the very story of Jesus.
And He will teach him Prescription and judgement and the Torah and the Gospel and a messenger to the children of Israel, ‘Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of God. And I will cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead – by permission of God. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers! And I will confirm what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so beware God and obey me! (3:48-50)
Said Isa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), “O God, our Lord! Send down to us a meal from the heaven! This will be a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers!” (5:114)
Past events form a view of the disappeared nations, the main cause of nonexistence of which is the denial of the signs given to them.
And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their founders a messenger reciting to them Our signs. And We destroyed the city only with obscurantists living in it! (28:59)
