The Quran about patience
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
With the birth, a person faces different difficulties. Various diseases, problems in the family and work visit him. Such situation are depressing for human, sometimes pushing him to unrighteous actions. And only with the help of the spiritual state man can more easily overcome problems. The stronger the faith, the easier it is to overcome difficulties. In turn, faith fully manifests itself through trials, because we cannot say that anything is reliable, without checking it for reliability. Therefore, at all times, believers along with the messengers were subjected to various tests. And that is logical, because Paradise must be earned.
Or do you think that you will enter into the garden while such has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by hardship and adversity and shock until messenger and those who believed with him said, “When is the help of God?” Unquestionably, the help of God is near. (2:214)
Having faith, a person should not be complacent, because, as can be seen from the above passage, he is expected to have different difficulties. In order to make them easier to overcome, God showed in the Prescription how to act.
And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the reverent. (2:45)
O you who have believed! Seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, God is with the patient. (2:153)
Faith is not just an oral declaration; it includes serving God as He prescribed in His Book. Service to God implies faithfulness to the Creator in any situation.
That is from the news of the hidden which We suggested to you. You knew it not, neither you nor your nation, before this. So be patient; indeed, the outcome is for the circumspect! (11:49)
And be patient, for indeed, God does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good! (11:115)
And keep yourself patient with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance! And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is immoderate. (18:28)
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them – so serve Him and have patience for His service. Do you know of any similarity to Him?” (19:65)
So be patient. Indeed, the promise of God is truth. And ask forgiveness for your trespass and exalt with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning! (40:55)
So be patient with gracious patience. (70:5)
But for your Lord be patient! (74:7)
Situations are different and decisions taken in connection with them might be uncomfortable for a person, but in spite of this, a believing person must still act in accordance with the Prescription of the Most High.
So be patient as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them. It will be – on the day they see that which they are promised – as though they had not remained except an hour of a day. Notify, “And will [any] be destroyed except the apostates?” (46:35)
And be patient for the judgement of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes! And exalt with praise of your Lord when stars disappear! (52:48)
Then be patient for the judgement of your Lord, and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed! (68:48)
So be patient for the judgement of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or closed one! (76:24)
True believer is not indifferent towards general state of society and people. Such a person feels disharmony, both in human behaviour, and in the laws of his country. But, despite all this, he needs to be guided by the command of God.
And follow what is suggested to you, and be patient until God will judge. And He is the best of judges. (10:109)
And be patient and your patience is not but through God. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire! (16:127)
So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain! (30:60)
Unfortunately, in the eyes of the majority, people who are truly guided by the Book of God, look bizarre and receive on their address a lot of hard-hitting feedback. But such behaviour also should not knock out a person devoted to God from the “gauge” indicated by Him.
So be patient over what they say and exalt with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied! (20:130)
Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned in repentance! (38:17)
So be patient over what they say and exalt with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting (50:39)
And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. (73:10)
Believer, changing himself to please God, is obliged to up bring his children in this spirit. After all, children are the continuers of the ideas voiced in the Book of God. For this, the offspring are prepared in accordance with the “spirit” of the Prescription.
O my son! Establish prayer, command the approved, detain from what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination! (31:17)
