The Quran about love

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful

The Quran is the God’s message, based on love and mercy for people. First of all, this is manifested in the epithets of the Most High: the Gracious, the Merciful. But in order to deserve His love, it is necessary to know what or whom God loves by Himself.

And spend in the way of God and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction. And do good; indeed, God loves the doers of good. (2:195)

Say, “If you should love God, then follow me, [so] God will love you and forgive you your trespasses. And God is Forgiving and Merciful.” (3:31)

But yes, those who are circumspect – fulfil given obligation. Indeed, God loves those who are circumspect! (3:76)

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the circumspect. Who spend during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and God loves the doers of good; (3:134)

And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many people But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the way of God, nor did they weaken or submit. And God loves the steadfast. And their words were not but that they said, “Our Lord, forgive us our trespasses and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the closed people.” So God gave them the reward of this world and the good reward of the hereafter. And God loves the doers of good. (3:146-148)

So by mercy from God, you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult with them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon God. Indeed, God loves those who rely! (3:159)

But pardon them and forgive. Indeed, God loves the doers of good. (5:13)

…And if you judge, judge between them with balance. Indeed, God loves those who act in balance! (5:42)

O you who have believed! Whoever of you should revert from his duty – God will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him, who are humble toward the believers, powerful against the closed ones; they strive in the way of God and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of God. He bestows it upon whom He wills. And God is all-Encompassing and Knowing! (5:54)

There is not upon those who believed and corrected themselves [any] offense concerning what they have eaten when they were not circumspect, but believed and corrected themselves. Then they beware and believe, and then are circumspect and do good; and God loves the doers of good. (5:93)

… So complete the obligation with them to the appointed time! Indeed, God loves the circumspect! (9:4)

… So as long as they are upright toward you, be upright toward them. Indeed, God loves the circumspect! (9:7)

And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of God. And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act in balance. Indeed, God loves those who act in balance! (49:9)

God does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of your duty and do not expel you from your homes – from being righteous toward them and acting in balance toward them. Indeed, God loves those who act in balance! (60:8)

Indeed, God loves those who fight in His way in a row as though they are a [single] structure joined firmly! (61:4)

The above places show God-loved qualities that believers are supposed to orient themselves on. A thinking person can easily understand that denying these qualities and truth cannot be the object of God’s love.

So who are those whom God does not love?

Fight in the way of God those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed, God does not like transgressors. (2:190)

And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals. And God does not like corruption. (2:205)

God destroys usury and gives increase for charities. And God does not like every closed sinner! (2:276)

Say, “Obey God and the messenger.” But if they turn away – then indeed, God does not like the closed ones! (3:32)

But as for those who believed and corrected themselves, He will give them in full their rewards, and God does not like the obscurantists! (3:57)

If a wound should touch you – there has already touched the nation a wound similar to it. And these days We alternate among the people so that God may make evident those who believe and take to Himself from among you witnesses – and God does not like the obscurantists! (3:140)

Indeed, God does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful. (4:36)

And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Indeed, God loves not one who is a habitually sinful deceiver. (4:107)

God does not like the public mention of evil except by one who has been wronged. And ever is God Hearing and Knowing. (4:148)

… And they strive throughout the land with corruption, and God does not like those who spread corruption! (5:64)

O you who have believed! Do not prohibit the good things which God has made lawful to you and do not transgress. Indeed, God does not like transgressors! (5:87)

Eat of its fruit when it yields. Give its due on the day of its harvest and be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess! (6:141)

O children of Adam! Take your adornment at every place for earthly worship. Eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess! (7:31)

Call upon your Lord in humility and privately. Indeed, He does not like transgressors! (7:55)

Assuredly, God knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant. (16:23)

Indeed, God defends those who have believed. Indeed, God does not like everyone treacherous and closed! (22:38)

Thereupon his nation said to him, “Do not exult. Indeed, God does not like the exultant. But seek, through that which God has given you, the home of the hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as God has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, God does not like corrupters.” (28:76-77)

… Indeed, He does not like the closed ones! (30:45)

And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful! (31:18)

… Indeed, He does not like obscurantists! (42:40)

In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And God does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful (57:23)

People’s degrees of faith are different, some higher, others lower. Many believers are looking for a way to strengthen their faith, but God has already shown this way – the love to faith.

And know that among you is the messenger of God. If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty, but God has endeared to you the faith and has beautified it in your hearts. And has made hateful to you closed nature, apostasy and disobedience. Those are the prudent! (49:7)

This feeling does not appear in everyone. To acquire it, you need to do things that will open the way to love.

Indeed, those who have believed and corrected themselves – the Most Merciful will appoint for them love! (19:96)

The synthesis of faith and good deeds, which led to the love to faith, gives a striking result. A person enlightened by faith is strengthened by the divine spirit and becomes a supporter of His work, recognized by the Most High.

You will not find a people who believe God and in the last day having affection for those who oppose God and His messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those – He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him.

And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide! God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him – those are the party of God! Unquestionably, the party of God – they are the successful! (58:22)

Indicative for us is the call of the messenger of God – Muhammad. He called to love. This is what God proclaims to His servants, who believed and corrected themselves.

Say, “I do not ask you for this message any payment [but] only love to those who near!”

And whoever commits a good deed – We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, God is Forgiving and Appreciative. (42:23)

This feeling helps people to live in mutual understanding and kind relation to each other. A person, imbued with a feeling of love, will be happy in a family life as well.

And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may live with them. He placed between you love and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought! (30:21)
