In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
Qualities of the closed people
The lack of faith in the hearts of the closed people is quite understandable. Voluntary refusal to accept the divine Light does not allow illuminating the spiritual darkness of personality and as a dense veil prevents faith to be taken.
- Absence of faith
Indeed, those who closed themselves – it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them – they will not believe. (2:6)
Or [it is] like a rainstorm from the sky within which is darkness, thunder and lightning. They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps in dread of death. But God is encompassing of the closed people. (2:19)
The example of those who closed themselves is like that of one who shouts at what hears nothing but calls and cries cattle or sheep – deaf, dumb and blind, so they do not understand. (Sahih 2:171)
There shall be no compulsion in the duty. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever is closed from transgression and believes God has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And God is Hearing and Knowing!
God is the patron of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who closed themselves – they are adherents of transgression. They take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the fire and they will abide therein. (2:256-257)
And even if We had sent down to you a written Prescription on a page and they touched it with their hands, the closed ones would say, “This is not but obvious magic.” (6:7)
And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it.
Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who closed themselves say, “This is not but legends of the former nations!” (6:25)
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of God are those who have closed themselves, and they will not believe – The ones with whom you made am obligation but then they break their obligation every time, and they are not circumspect! (8:55-56)
Have the people been amazed that We suggested [revelation] to a man from among them, [saying], “Warn mankind and give good tidings to those who believe that they will have a [firm] precedence of honor with their Lord”!
[But] the closed ones say, “Indeed, this is an obvious magician!” (10:2)
And when Our signs are recited to them as clear evidences, those who closed themselves say to those who believe, “Which of two parties is best in position and best in association?” (19:73)
And He is the one who gave you life; then He causes you to die and then will [again] give you life. Indeed, man closes himself! (22:66)
And those who closed themselves say, “This is not except a libel he invented, and another people assisted him in it.” But they have committed a gloomy falsity! (25:4)
But if We should send a wind and they saw [their crops] turned yellow, the closed people would remain thereafter gloomy! (30:51)
And We have certainly presented to the people in this Literature (Quran) from every kind of example. But, if you should bring them a sign, those who closed themselves will surely say, “You are but falsifiers!” (30:58)
And when Our signs are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, “This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping!”
And they say, “This is not except a libel invented.”
And those who closed themselves say of the truth when it has come to them, “This is not but obvious magic!” (34:43)
But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves,
and the closed ones say, “This is an amazing thing. (50:2)
That is because they believed, and then they closed themselves; so their hearts were sealed over, and they do not understand. (63:3)
It is He who created you, and among you is the closed one, and among you is the believer. And God, of what you do, is Seeing. (64:2)
And indeed, those who closed themselves would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say, “Indeed, he is obsessed.” (68:51)
But those who have closed themselves deny it, calling it a lie! (84:22)
In accordance with their internal state, closed people do not believe in the next stage of life
2. Disbelief in the future life:
O you who have believed! Do not invalidate your charities with reminders or injury as does one who spends his wealth to be seen by the people and does not believe God and in the last day. His example is like that of a smooth stone upon which is dust and is hit by a downpour that leaves it bare. They are unable to keep anything of what they have earned. And God does not guide the closed people! (2:264)
And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days – and its abode had been upon water – that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed.
But if you say, “Indeed, you are resurrected after death,” those who closed themselves will surely say, “This is not but obvious magic.” (11:7)
And those who closed themselves say, “When we have become dust as well as our forefathers, will we indeed be brought out? (27:67)
Do they not contemplate within themselves? God has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, from the meeting with their Lord, closed themselves! (30:8)
But those who closed themselves say, “The hour will not come to us.”
Say, “Yes, by my Lord, the Knower of the hidden, it will surely come to you..” Not absent from Him is an atom’s weight within the heavens or within the earth or [what is] smaller than that or greater, except that it is in a clear Prescription. (34:3)
But those who closed themselves say, “Shall we direct you to a man who will inform you [that] when you have disintegrated in complete disintegration, you will [then] be [recreated] in a new creation? (34:7)
Say, “I am only a man like you to whom it has been suggested that your god is but one God! So take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness!” And woe to those who associate others with God – Those who do not give purifying expenditure, and from the hereafter they closed themselves. (41:6-7)
Those are the closed libertines! (80:42)
In conditions of intentional closed nature, an attempt to understand and realize the truth is not successful, but only manifests a deviation from the correct path.
3. Deviation:
Indeed, God is not timid to present an example – that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord.
But as for those who closed themselves, they say, “What did God intend by this as an example?” He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the apostates. (2:26)
Indeed, those who closed themselves and averted from the way of God and opposed the messenger after guidance had become clear to them – never will they harm God at all, and He will render worthless their deeds.
O you who have believed! Obey God and obey the messenger and do not invalidate your deeds!
Indeed, those who closed themselves and averted from the path of God and then died while they were closed – never will God forgive them. (47:32-34)
They are the ones who closed themselves and obstructed you from forbidden for battles place for earthly worship while the offering was prevented from reaching its place of sacrifice.
And if not for believing men and believing women whom you did not know – that you might trample them and there would befall you because of them dishonor without [your] knowledge, that God might admit to His mercy whom He willed. If they had been apart, We would have punished those who closed themselves among them with painful punishment.
When those who closed themselves had put into their hearts fury – the fury of ignorance. But God sent down His tranquillity upon His messenger and upon the believers and imposed upon them a duty of the warning word, and it became the truth for them and their families. And ever is God, of all things, Knowing. (48:25-26)
One of the “materials” of closed nature is a beauty of this life. The colours of being, like a shroud before our eyes, do not allow us to examine the true state of things.
4. Decorations of this life:
Beautified for those who closed themselves is the life of this world, and they ridicule those who believe.
But those who are circumspect will be above them on the day of standing before God. And God gives provision to whom He wills without account! (2:212)
And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him Light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom?! Thus it has been beautified to the closed ones that which they were doing! (6:122)
“O company of invisible creatures and mankind! Did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My signs and warning you of the meeting of this day of yours?”
They will say, “We bear witness against ourselves!” The worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were closed ones! (6:130)
Satisfaction with one’s position dictates that to the closed people the desire to keep the environment in his system of values, which is expressed in deviating from the path of God and from the fulfilling of his duties before Him.
5. Deviation:
They ask you about the sacred month – about fighting therein.
Say, “Fighting therein is great sin, but averting from the way of God and closing yourself from it and forbidden for battles place for earthly worship and the expulsion of its people therefrom are greater sin in the sight of God! Distemper is greater than killing!” And they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your duty if they are able. And whoever of you reverts from his duty and dies – he is the one who closed himself. For those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the hereafter, and those are the companions of the fire, they will abide therein. (2:217)
Then an announcer will announce among them, “The curse of God is upon the obscurantists, who reject the way of God and seek to cause crookedness and they closed themselves from the hereafter. (7:44-45)
Who averted [people] from the way of God and sought crookedness on it while they, from the hereafter, closed themselves! (11:19)
The deviation from fulfilling of the obligation before God is also expressed in the battle on the side of transgression.
6. Battle on the side of transgression
Those who believe fight in the way of God, and those who closed fight in the way of transgression. So fight against the patrons of disobedient. Indeed, the intrigue of disobedient has ever been weak. (4:76)
However, closed “warriors” do not have the corresponding qualities.
7. Cowardice:
And if those who closed themselves had fought you, they would have turned their backs. Then they would not find a patron or a guardian. (48:22)
The actions of the closed people derive their meaning from the pantheistic worldview.
8. Pantheism:
[All] praise is to God, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Then those who closed themselves equate [others] with their Lord. (6:1)
To Him [alone] is the supplication of truth! And those they call upon besides Him do not respond to them with a thing, except as one who stretches his hands toward water to reach his mouth, but it will not reach it. And the supplication of the closed people is not but in error. (13:14)
Then when He removes the harm from you, at once a party of you associates others with their Lord so they will close themselves from what We have given them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know. (16:54-55)
And when harm touches you at sea, lost are those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away. Indeed, man becomes closed! (17:67)
And whoever invokes besides God another deity for which he has no proof – then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the closed people will not succeed! (23:117)
A God has promised those who have believed among you and corrected themselves that He will surely grant them succession upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them. He will surely strengthen them in fulfilment of the duty, which He has approved for them. He will surely substitute their fear to security, saying:
“They worship Me, not associating any partners with Me.
But those who close themselves after that – are the apostates. (24:55)
But they serve rather than God that which does not benefit them or harm them, and the closed one is ever, against his Lord, an assistant. (25:55)
Unquestionably, for God is the pure duty!
And those who take patrons besides Him, say, “We only serve them that they may bring us nearer to God in position.” Indeed, God will judge between them concerning that over which they differ! Indeed, God does not guide he who is a liar and closed himself! (39:3)
You invite me to close myself from God and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver! (40:42)
But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man clearly closed himself! (43:15)
It is the ideological confrontation that gives rise to falsehood and accuses the divine truth of falsity.
9. Falsehood:
And who is more unjust than one who invents about God a lie or denies His signs? Those will attain their portion of the decree until when Our messengers come to them to take them in death, they will say,
“Where are those you used to invoke besides God?”
They will say, “They have departed from us,” and will bear witness against themselves that they were closed. (7:37)
They swore by God with the strongest oath: “God will not resurrect the one who dies!” By the true promise from Him, He will, but most of the people do not know. So He will make clear to them that wherein they differ and so those who have closed themselves may know that they were liars. (16:38-39)
And God has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in vainness do they believe and from the favor of God they closed themselves? (16:72)
And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners! And those who closed themselves dispute by [using] vainness to invalidate thereby the truth and have taken My signs, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule! (18:56)
And those who closed themselves say to those who believe, “Follow our way, and we will carry your mistakes.” But they will not carry anything of their mistakes. Indeed, they are liars. (29:12)
But they who closed themselves are in [persistent] denial! (85:19)
The deceitful essence of the closed people stimulates misinformation of people and falsifying facts.
Indeed, the number of months with God is twelve months in the prescription of God from the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are forbidden for battles. That is the correct duty, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the ones who associate others with God collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that God is with the circumspect ones!
Indeed, the postponing is an increase in closed nature by which those who have closed themselves are led [further] astray. They make it lawful one year and unlawful another year to correspond to the number made unlawful by God and [thus] make lawful what God has made unlawful. Made pleasing to them is the evil of their deeds; and God does not guide the closed people. (9:36-37)
In a natural way, those who closed themselves may be among the believing people. However, a keen eye can identify such characters: laziness and stinginess give them away.
10. Laziness:
And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have closed themselves from God and from His messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling!
So let not their wealth or their children impress you. God only intends to punish them through them in worldly life! They ruin themselves, they are closed! (9:54-55)
Venality is also a quality of people who closed themselves.
11. Venality
The Arabs are stronger in closed nature and venality and more likely not to know the limits of what God has revealed to His messenger. And God is Knowing and Wise. (9:97)
Have you not considered those who venal, saying to their closed brothers among the holders of the Prescription, “If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone – ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you!” But God testifies that they are liars! (59:11)
Reliance on human perception cannot give an advantage to the closed people.
12. Futility:
And let not those who closed themselves think they will escape. Indeed, they will not weaken. (8:59)
But in their common worldview, the closed ones act as patrons of each other.
13. Patronage of each other:
And those who closed themselves are patrons of one another. If you do not do so, there will be distemper on earth and great corruption. (8:73)
In a dark soul, without the Light of God, nothing, except abomination, can flourish.
14. Abomination:
But as for those in whose hearts is disease, it has [only] increased abomination in them to their abomination. And they will have died while they closed themselves. (9:125)
In the darkness of the soul there is no faith to the promises of the Creator and as a result – despair.
15. Despair:
And if We give man a taste of mercy from Us and then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and closes himself! (11:9)
The success of sincere believers in ideological struggle evokes only envy of the closed ones.
16. Envy:
And those who closed themselves say, “Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?”
Say, “Indeed, God leaves astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever prays for forgiveness!” (13:27)
Envy provokes disobeying of the prescriptions of the Creator and promotes the development of wastefulness to satisfy their pleasures.
17. Wastefulness:
Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the disobedient, and ever has disobedient been to his Lord closed. (17:27)
Waste is successfully combined with stinginess, because spending not on themselves annoys the essence of the closed ones.
18. Stinginess:
And when it is said to them, “Spend from that which God has provided for you,” those who closed themselves say to those who believe, “Should we feed one whom, if God had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error!” (36:47)
Arrogance is an indispensable component of the inner contents of the closed people.
19. Arrogance:
Then, have you seen he who closed himself from Our signs and said, “I will surely be given wealth and children!”? (19:77)
But those who closed themselves are in pride and dissension. (38:2)
So the maintainers prostrated – all of them entirely.
Except for disappointed (iblees); he was arrogant and became among the closed ones. (38:73-74)
But yes, there had come to you My signs, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you closed yourself! (39:59)
But as for those who closed themselves, it will be said, “Were not Our signs recited to you, but you were arrogant and became a nation of criminals? (45:31)
After all, only arrogance allows you to ridicule the divine truth.
20. Ridicule:
And when those who closed themselves see you, they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], “Is this the one who insults your gods?” And they, from the mention of the Most Merciful, closed themselves. (21:36)
Closed people dispute with the signs of God.
21. Dispute:
No one disputes concerning the signs of God except those who closed themselves, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land. (40:4)
In the heat of polemics, when the divine arguments do not give chances of success to the closed people, seeing clear evidence they express only an aggression.
22. Aggression:
And when Our signs are recited to them as clear evidences, you recognize in the faces of those who closed themselves denial. They are ready to attack those who recite to them Our signs.
Say, “Then shall I inform of worst of that for you? – the fire! God has promised it to those who closed themselves! And wretched is such return!” (22:72)
The principle of voluntariness covers absolutely all people.
23. Voluntary closed nature
And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded, but most of the people refuse except closed nature. (25:50)
The nature closed from the signs of the universe provokes the avoidance of the warnings of the Lord.
24. Avoidance of the warnings:
We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who closed themselves, from that of which they are warned, are turning away. (46:3)
Which leads only to delusion.
25. Delusion:
Or who is it that could be an army for you to aid you other than the Most Merciful? The closed ones are not but in delusion! (67:20)
But the main player on the field of people’s life is the disappointed (iblis) who manipulates the consciousness.
26. Susceptibility to manipulation:
Like the example of the disobedient when he says to man, “Close yourself!” But when he has closed himself, he says, “Indeed, I am disassociated from you! Indeed, I fear God, Lord of the worlds!” (59:16)
