The Quran about transgression

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful

The source of any action or inaction of an individual is his own internal state. It is formed from early childhood and manifests itself in an adult person under certain circumstances. The quality described is directly related to the human habitat and is called spirituality.

The spiritual state, by virtue of its influence, dictates the basic rules of the game in this life. Through it, a person decides how to act in situations.

The notorious topic of corruption, arbitrariness of officials, etc., is directly connected with the spiritual state of officials. On and on again, the authorities themselves and public organizations call and initiate a fight against this phenomenon, however, no noticeable changes are observed. The reason for all is the inner content of people in power, in which there is no fear.

As practice shows, the most persistent “limiter” is the fear of God’s anger and discontent; however the majority of officials position themselves as believers, but do not consider warnings and examples of the Creator.

In the Quran the word “tagut” is used, which was formed from the root “tagaa” and means: to leave the coast, cross borders, transgression arbitrariness, lawlessness. In this study, the verses proposed where the words formed from the root “tagaa” are used.

Transgression

There shall be no compulsion in the duty. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever is closed from transgression and believes God has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And God is Hearing and Knowing!

God is the patron of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who closed themselves – they are adherents of transgression. They take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the fire and they will abide therein. (2:256-257)

Those who believe fight in the way of God, and those who closed fight in the way of transgression. So fight against the patrons of disobedient. Indeed, the intrigue of disobedient has ever been weak. (4:76)

And We certainly sent into every headship a messenger, that they serve God and avoid transgression. And among them were those whom God guided, and among them were those upon whom error was decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers! (16:36)

But those who have avoided transgression, lest they serve it, and turned back to God – for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servants (39:17)

In the above passages, the Creator’s unequivocal attitude to transgression is expressed. Truly God-fearing people do not leave such warnings without attention. On the contrary, demonstrative faith cannot serve as that “limiter” in decision-making.

Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you, and what was revealed before you? They wish to go for judgment to transgression, while they were commanded to be closed from it. Disobedient wishes to lead them far astray. (4:60)

The logic of the appearance of God’s messengers among people is that over time, after previous warnings, subsequent generations inclined to violate the established limitations. Unfortunately, this practice was repeated often. An example of the holders of the Lord’s Prescription confirms this:

The holders of the Prescription

Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Prescription? They believe forecasters and transgression. It is said about those who closed themselves, “These are better guided than the believers as to the way”! (4:51)

Say, “Shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that as penalty from God? [It is that of] those whom God has cursed and with whom He became discontented and made of them apes and pigs and servants of transgression. Those are worse in position and further astray from the sound way!” (5:60)

And the Jews say, “The hand of God is chained.” Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say. Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and closed nature. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the day of standing before God. Every time they kindled the fire of war, God extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land with corruption, and God does not like those who spread corruption. (5:64)

Say, “O holders of the Prescription! You have nothing until you uphold the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.” And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and closed nature. So do not grieve over the closed people! (5:68)

Reliance on the violation of the laws of the Creator does not lead to anything good, except for delusion and spiritual blindness.

Delusion and spiritual blindness

God mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly. (2:15)

And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first time. And We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly. (6:110)

Whoever God sends astray – there is no guide for him. And He leaves them in their transgression, wandering blindly. (7:186)

And if God was to hasten for the people the evil as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been ended for them. But We leave the ones who do not expect the meeting with Us, in their transgression, wandering blindly (10:11)

And when We told you, “Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people.” And We did not make the sight which We showed you except as a temptation for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Literature (Quran). And We threaten them, but it increases them not except in great transgression! (17:60)

And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. (23:75)

Human creations suggest certain rules, the violation of which leads to the breaking of man-made products. In a similar situation is our entire universe, which is created according to certain settings. Here, for the safe coexistence of “organic”, the constraints are put.

Constraints

So stand straight as you have been commanded, and those who have turned back with you, and do not transgress. Indeed, He is Seeing of what you do. (11:112)

“Eat from the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress therein, lest My discontentment should descend upon you. And he upon whom My discontentment descends has certainly fallen.” (20:81)

And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance that you not transgress within the balance. (55:7-8)

Freedom in decision-making reveals the true “face” of a person. The algorithm for assessing behaviour is simple: whether the Creator’s restriction is violated or not.

Transgressors

Did they suggest it to them? Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people. (51:53)

Or do their dreams command them to [say] this,

or are they a transgressing people? (52:32)

No! [But] indeed, man transgresses, because he sees someone who has become rich! (96:6)

The result of negative activities is often punishment in this life.

They said, “O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors. (68:31)

The causal relationship is based on the inner, spiritual state of its carrier. The confirmation of which are the stories that occurred with lawless nations.

History

Go to pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.” (20:24)

And the nation of Nuh (Noah) before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more obscurant and transgressing. (53:52)

So as for Thamud, they were destroyed for transgression. (69:5)

[All of] whom transgressed within the lands (89:11)

Thamud denied by reason of their transgression, (91:11)

The main difference between people is not just in believing in God, but in believing in the coming of the Day of Debt. Real confidence in this is manifested not in words, but in deeds. Those who really believe that they will answer in full before the Creator will not violate the limitations established by the Almighty. But violators of the restrictions will not have anything comforting on the Day of Debt.

Day of Debt

The answer will be, “Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, and we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. (37:29-30)

This [is so]. But indeed, for the transgressors is an evil place of return (38:55)

His companion will say, “Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error.” (50:27)

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait for the transgressors, a place of return, (78:21)
