The Quran about abomination
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
A set of feelings of a person helps to assess the environment and, accordingly develop a line of behaviour. Such a function is necessary for an optimal existence with the least risks.
One such tool is the definition of a condition that must be rejected. Without such a reaction of the psyche, a person can be: poisoned, get infected and infect, use substandard things, products, etc.
In moral terms, people are also peculiar to evaluate the actions of others in this way. However, the assessment benchmark for the same act for humans can be different. The fact that for one is acceptable, invokes rejection for another. It turns out that human values are very subjective. Unbiased logic suggests that a universal “evaluation scale” must be sought in nonhuman sources. The last such source is the Quran.
In the Quran, the word “ridzhsun” is used to determine the repulsive state – dirt, abomination and infamy.
Being the transmitter of the Prescription, Muhammad and his family had to correspond to the spiritual purity, because the time, before the Quran, personified the power of “abomination” among his nation.
And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance. And establish prayer and give purifying expenditure and obey God and His messenger. God intends only to remove from you the abomination, O people of the household, and to purify you with purification! (33:33)
As in our time, the cult of female beauty, expressed in denudation or underlining the sexual component, was actively exploited. The natural prescription for the wives of the messenger, his daughters and the rest of the believing women was to bring their dresses closer to themselves.
O prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and will not cause unpleasant feelings. And ever is God Forgiving and Merciful. (33:59)
At that time, the Arabs, like us, inherited the ways that put human psyche into the animal state.
O you who have believed! Indeed, substances that cover the mind, gambling, stone alters and divining arrows are but abomination from the work of the disobedient. So avoid it that you may be successful! (5:90)
As can be seen from the passage, everything that closes the mind is positioned as an abomination.
Along with this, it is no accident that idols are mentioned. Service to created objects undoubtedly violates the correct perception of reality and leads to terrible consequences.
That [has been commanded], and whoever honors the prohibitions of God – it is best for him in the sight of his Lord.
And permitted to you are the grazing livestock, except what is recited to you. So avoid the abomination of idols and avoid false statement! (22:30)
Food is vital for man, so the Creator regulates in the Quran the culture of consumption of it. Special attention is paid to the quality, type and ritual condition of food.
Say, “I do not find within that which was suggested to me forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine or that dedicated to other than God – for indeed, it is abomination and apostasy! But whoever is forced, neither desiring nor transgressing, then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful!” (6:145)
As we understand, a person is given the opportunity to choose. People consciously determine for themselves a system of values. The choice of the true path to God is accompanied by the Lord’s help in this direction.
So whoever God wants to guide – He expands his breast to humility; and whoever He wants to misguide – He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky! Thus does God place abomination upon those who do not believe! (6:125)
Creator does not specifically put people into the state of abomination. People themselves prefer to be in it.
He said, “Already have abomination and discontentment fallen upon you from your Lord. Do you dispute with me concerning names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which God has not sent down any authority? Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait.” (7:71)
Unfortunately, the presence of hypocrisy among believers is also true, which is also defined as defilement.
They will swear by God to you when you return to them that you would leave them alone. So leave them alone; indeed they are abomination, and their refuge is Hell as recompense for what they had been earning. (9:95)
The whole problem comes from the inner state of a man. If a person is spiritually ill and does not try to treat the disease with the Prescription, then, besides the increasing of abomination, it does not lead to anything good.
But as for those in whose hearts is disease, it has [only] increased abomination in them to their abomination. And they will have died while they closed themselves. (9:125)
It is evident from the above passage that the spiritual abomination manifests itself in the denial of the signs of God. Sent down signs of God are necessary for the birth of faith in the hearts of people, for awakening the mind from an intellectual “hibernation.”
And it is not for a personality to believe except by permission of God, and He will place abomination upon those who will not use reason. (10:100)
Until people turn on the mind, spiritual abomination will be an integral part of our lives.
