The Quran about the truth. Part 1
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
The search for truth in the contemplation of men plays a paramount role. From ancient times, from Parmenides to our contemporaries, Maritain and Hartmann, intellectual thought tried to formulate a universal concept of truth. The present concept of the truth is represented by some information about the reality existing independently of the subject trying to understand it. Evaluation in the form of the truth is used both in the scientific and in the religious sphere.
The Quranic concept of the truth is inalienable from the Creator Himself, for He is beyond being and human ideas.
For that is God, your Lord, the Truth. And what can be beyond truth except error? So how are you averted? (10:32)
The existence of life, the Supreme, connects with the fact that He is the truth.
That is because God is the Truth!
And because He gives life to the dead!
And because He is over all things competent! (22:6)
And to people’s ideas of faith, God opposes Himself.
That is because God is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is vainness, and because God is the Most High, the Grand. (22:62)
That is because God is the Truth, and that what they call upon other than Him is vainness, and because God is the Most High, the Grand. (31:30)
The opposition is expressed in the opposition of human worldviews to the divine settings that were fixed in the Prescriptions.
And God will establish the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it.” (10:82)
God has not made for a man two hearts in his interior.
And He has not made your wives whom you avoid as your mothers.
And he has not made you to call the others among you as your sons. That is [merely] your saying by your mouths, but God says the truth, and He guides to the way! (33:4)
The truth that comes from the Lord manifests itself in His creatures.
And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth. And the day He says, “Be,” and it is, His word is the truth. And His is the kingship on the day the horn is blown. Knower of the hidden and the witnessed! And He is the Wise, the Acquainted! (6:73)
The whole universe exists only because of the will of God.
It is He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a derived light! He determined for it phases – that you may know the number of years and account. God has not created this except in truth. He details the signs for a people who know. (10:5)
He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term.
Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver! (39:5)
There is a notion that this world is not worth much attention, and some people in general reject everything created by the Creator, considering it as damned. However, our environment is created in truth.
Do they not contemplate within themselves? God has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, from the meeting with their Lord, are closed! (30:8)
And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know! (44:38-39)
We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who closed themselves, from that of which they are warned, are turning away. (46:3)
Doubtful people can dispel their scepticism by observing and analyzing the world around them.
God created the heavens and the earth in truth! Indeed in that is a sign for the believers! (29:44)
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness? (41:53)
A close look may notice that there is nothing eternal, and in the same time there is no non-renewable creation.
Have you not seen that God created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He wills, He can do away with you and produce a new creation. (14:19)
Realizing this, an intelligent person is pervaded by trembling before his Creator and gratitude to Him.
He created the heavens and earth in truth and formed you and perfected your forms; and to Him is the destination! (64:3)
Unfortunately, people are often ungrateful to their Creator. Ungratefulness is expressed in a polytheistic view. The root of polytheism is based on the absence of thinking, leading to the deification of created objects.
He created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him. (16:3)
Despite this, the principle of non-coercion was always present and was prescribed to the messenger.
And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness! (15:85)
This is logical, since, otherwise, the imposition of responsibility for actions will lose its meaning.
And Godcreated the heavens and earth in truth and so that every personality may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged! (45:22)
Our idea of the world and God is based on the information we receive. Often, the formation of opinion is due to the source of information. At this point, there is a great risk of acquiring an erroneous view.
They swore by God with the strongest oath: “God will not resurrect the one who dies!” By the true promise from Him, He will, but most of the people do not know. (16:38)
O mankind! Beware of your Lord, and fear a day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of God is truth!
So do not let the worldly life delude you! Nor let the temper incite you concerning God! (31:33)
O mankind, indeed the promise of God is truth! So do not let the worldly life delude you! Nor let the deceiver deceive you about God! (35:5)
It is impossible to live completely without errors, but it is possible to minimize them, at the same time to appeal to the Creator for leniency.
So be patient. Indeed, the promise of God is truth. And ask forgiveness for your trespass and exalt with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning! (40:55)
Stimulating people’s attention to thinking about the upcoming events was based on warnings. But most was sceptical to God’s warnings.
So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain! (30:60)
So be patient, indeed, the promise of God is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned. (40:77)
All invented human aspirations and pillars in life do not have an unshakable foundation, disappearing together with the end of the earthly life.
Then they are returned to God, their true patron! Unquestionably, His is the judgement! And He is the swiftest of accountants! (6:62)
The culmination of human existence is the time of summarizing.
That day, God will pay them in full their deserved recompense, and they will know that it is God who is the manifest truth! (24:25)
At this stage of knowledge of the truth, many people do not accept and do not understand the next step in the life of people – life after death.
Unquestionably, to God belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth.
Unquestionably, the promise of God is truth, but most of them do not know (10:55)
And when it was said, ‘Indeed, the hour promised by God is truth in which there is no doubt!’ you replied, ‘We know not what is the hour. We assume only assumptions! We are not convinced!” (45:32)
Despite the denial by people of the coming of the great Day, its coming is the truth.
That is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return! (78:39)
Everything that was prepared and done in life will be weighed on the fairest scales.
And the weighing [of deeds] that day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy – it is they who will be the successful! (7:8)
The result of those who do not have enough weight on the scales will be tragic, and the light-weight individuals themselves will fully accept the justice of the scales.
If you could but see when they will be made to stand before their Lord. He will say, “Is this not the truth?”
They will say, “Yes, by our Lord.”
He will [then] say, “So taste the punishment because you used to close themselves!” (6:30)
On the Day of Debt, those sentenced to punishment will understand who was the source of their voluntary fateful choice.
Disobedient said when the matter has been decided, “Indeed, God had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I deceived you. But I had no authority over you except that I called you, and you responded to me! So do not blame me, but blame yourselves! I do not call you for help, and you do not call for my help either! Indeed, I am closed from your association of me with God before!”
Indeed, for the obscurantists is a painful punishment! (14:22)
And We will extract from every headship a witness and say, “Produce your proof!” and they will know that the truth belongs to God, and lost from them is that which they used to invent! (28:75)
On the contrary, those who did not doubt the Lord’s promise and guided by His prescription will be rewarded according to their behavior.
But the ones who believed and corrected themselves- We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. The promise of God is truth, and who is more truthful than God in statement? (4:122)
But those who believed and corrected themselves – We charge no personality except its capacity. Those are the companions of the garden; they will abide therein. And We will have removed whatever is within their thoughts of resentment, [while] flowing beneath them are rivers.
And they will say, “Praise to God, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if God had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth.”
And they will be called, “This is the garden, which you have been made to inherit for what you used to do.”
And the companions of the garden called out to the companions of the fire, “We have already found what our Lord promised us to be true. Have you found what your Lord promised to be true?”
They replied, “Yes.”
Then an announcer will announce among them, “The curse of God is upon the obscurantists, who reject the way of God and seek to cause crookedness and they closed themselves from the hereafter. (7:42-45)
Indeed, those who believe and corrected themselves – for them are the gardens of grace. Wherein they will abide by the true promise of God! He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise! (31:8-9)
How to make that the only right step on the road to success? It is only by an unbiased, impartial approach to this most important issue. And it should be built on comparison and analysis.
Say, “Are there of your ‘partners’ any who guides to the truth?”
Say, “God guides to the truth. So is He who guides to the truth more worthy to be followed or he who guides not unless he is guided? Then what is with you – how do you judge?”
Most of them follow not except assumption. Indeed, assumption has no benefit for the truth. Indeed, God is Knowing of what they do! (10:35-36)
This universal formula will help any person to determine the true source of guidance. A reasonable believer, under the guidance of this passage, will certainly stop at the Prescription of God. No other source can be either its substitute, or understudy, nor participial or determining the meaning of the path to the Creator. After all, absolutely everything except the Creator needs Him, and accordingly – we need to be guided.
