The Quran about private parts
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
One of the differences between believing people and animals is the observance of the rules of behavior that limit biological reflexes. For example, strong reproductive instinct is regulated by the divine prescription.
Indeed, the humble men and humble women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the reverential men and reverential women, the righteous men and righteous women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember God often and the women who do so – for them God has prepared forgiveness and a great reward. (33:35)
Before us is a list of the qualities inherent to believers, which in the end will lead to success on the Day of Debt. In this list of qualities approved by God, the relation to the sexual organs is mentioned. To protect genitals of course does not mean giving up intimate relationships. In this case, we are talking about keeping them within the framework of:
And they who guard their private parts, except from their wives or those dependent on them, for indeed, they will not be blamed! (23:5)
And those who guard their private parts, except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed (70:29-30)
We understand that the instinct of reproduction is quite strong and it’s not easy to keep it within the framework. Here, to facilitate abstinence from violation of restrictions, believing men and women are prescribed certain behavior:
Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, God is Acquainted with what they do! (24:30)
And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts… (24:31)
This prescription is logical, because it is through the eyes that we inflame our sexual passion. This does not mean, in principle, a ban on looking at people. Obviously, this is a look with lust.
One of the great signs for humanity is the example of Mary, the mother of Jesus:
And remember the one who guarded her private parts! So We blew into her through Our spirit. We made her and her son a sign for the nations! (21:91)
And Mary, the daughter of ‘Imran, who guarded her private parts! So We blew into through Our spirit. She believed in the Words of her Lord and His Prescriptions and was of the reverential! (66:12)
The example of Mary in terms of preserving the genitals is quite relevant against the background of the ever-increasing “advertising” of free relations between a man and a woman without obligations. Lechery as rust eats away more and more of the world community. And if this “rust” is not removed, if preventive is not done, then in the near future we will not differ from animals in any way.
